Fear The Walking Dead brought their A-game at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con with some very exciting announcements!

Fear The Walking Dead has officially had their panel at San Diego Comic-Con, and as always there is plenty to be excited about and look forward to. First things first, the series is getting a sixth season, which I seriously can’t believe because how has time flown by so fast?! Deadline reported this piece of news following the panel which was moderated by none other than Chris Hardwick.

Along with showrunners Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg, in attendance were executive producers Robert Kirkman, Dave Alpert, Gale Anne Hurd, and Greg Nicotero–along with Scott M. Gimple. Not to mention, cast members Lennie James, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Danay Garcia, Maggie Grace, Jenna Elfman, Alexa Nisenson, Austin Amelio, Rubén Blades, and Karen David. Thank you Deadline, for all that detailed information!

Fear The Walking Dead had a lot to tell fans during the panel which started with Gimple announcing that the series is getting another season. As you all know, the fifth season is reaching its midway point this Sunday, and those who attended the panel got a special sneak peek at what’s to come in the mid-season finale.

The second half of season 5 will premiere on Aug. 11th with some fresh faces: Colby Minifie, Peter Jacobson and Colby Hollman. How exciting is this guys! Gimple also had a bit to say about what to expect as the series moves forward, and once again, I am overwhelmed with excitement.

Last but not least, it was also announced that a new series is in the works, which according to Deadline, is described like this:

"They are working on another series of privileged, first-world kids who leave the comfort of their world to go on a quest. Some will become heroes — others not so much. He said the new series will “open up a whole new world.” No further details of the series were given."

It’s pretty exciting to see that the Walking Dead universe is expanding in such big and exciting ways, especially after we said goodbye to Rick Grimes. I also love how much Fear The Walking Dead has come into its own separate from its parent show and has solidified a place for itself in this ever-growing universe. I can only imagine what craziness lies ahead, and based on today’s news, this is just the beginning.
