Veronica Mars character refresher: Who’s returning to Neptune for the revival?

Will Veronica Mars bring back the notorious Duncan Kane? We wouldn’t count on it considering Teddy Dunn has since retired from acting to become a pretty successful lawyer. Nevertheless, Dunn has totally ruled out a return so there’s always a chance Veronica’s first love will be back. The last we saw him was in season 2 when Veronica helped Duncan escape the country with his daughter after Meg Manning died. He lives in Australia, happily spending his days at the beach with the infant Lilly. Also, he was able to avenge his sister by ordering Clarence Wiedman to kill Aaron Echolls after he manages to be found innocent.

It also seems unlikely that the series has Amanda Seyfried return even in dream sequences as the orignal Lilly Kane. Rob Thomas and Kristen Bell have the new series isn’t about nostalgia but a new story to tell.
Finally, will Celeste and Jake Kane be back? The movie confirmed the two divorced and Celeste was the one who shot Weevil so we’d be surprised if that didn’t come back up again. We’d also like to see Jake Kane apologize to the Mars family, especially since he didn’t seem like an “evil guy”. Maybe with Mac gone he’ll be able to send some assistance there way. All things considered, Veronica was the one who found out who truly murdered his daughter.

Backup
It wouldn’t be Veronica Mars without a trusty pup named Backup. So much time has passed that the original dog probably isn’t around but by the looks of things, Veronica has found another great canine companion for the Hulu series.
