What about Eleven? If Joyce goes off to find Hopper, Eleven would know. She’s now an adopted member of the Byers family. Based on Eleven and Mike’s (Finn Wolfhard) holiday plans, the Byers family may have moved to Chicago. It’s close enough to make visits relatively simple. And, it holds history for Eleven aka Jane.
That’s right. I’m talking about “The Lost Sister.” Although it’s widely considered one of the worst episodes of Stranger Things, it’s one of my favorites. People look past it, but the focus and control lessons that Eleven received from Kali (Linnea Bertelsmann) were vital. They’re why Eleven is able to destroy the demodogs, close The Gate, and be the hardcore Eleven she is in Stranger Things 3.
Things didn’t end well between Eleven and Kali. While I doubt she stayed in Chicago, I believe Kali may return from time to time. I think this is a way to bring her back into the story. After all, Eleven needs to get her powers back. Early in the season, Eleven may thrive without her powers. But, she’ll need them. Or, be convinced that she needs them by one of Kali’s hallucinations. Kali could even be working for Brenner. Or, Eleven could turn Kali and recruit her for an Upside Down Squad against Brenner. Look for Jonathan to notice something is awry. His attention to detail may be heightened with his photojournalist skills being honed at the Chicago Sun-Times or the Chicago Tribune.
