The cast of The Sinner season 3 continues to grow with its latest addition–Chris Messina.

The Sinner is an interesting show, to say the least. What was meant to be a limited series is now heading into its third season with no signs of stopping, and that is something I am very, very happy about. Returning for the third season will be Bill Pullman who has been a constant presence in the series from day one. While Jessica Biel joined him in season one, there is no news as to whether or not we’ll ever see her pop up in future seasons, but hey, there’s always hope.

The cast of season 3 already includes Pullman, White Collar’s Matt Bomer, and recently, Deadline reported that The Mindy Project’s Chris Messina will be joining them too. Messina?! Heck yes, guys. He’s funny and hilarious but if you’ve seen him on HBO’s Sharp Objects then you know he can also do serious and disturbed, which is perfect for a show like The Sinner.

For the third season, the series will follow Pullman’s character, Detective Ambrose, as he investigates a car accident in upstate New York. Of course, nothing is ever as it seems and he’ll find this case is a lot more complicated and strange than anything he’s ever dealt with. Messina is playing a character named Nick Haas who is friend with Bomer’s character, Jamie.

How these characters will all connect is yet to be seen but I have no doubt that The Sinner will find a freaky, frightening way to do so. And something tells me that the combination of Messina, Bomer, and Pullman might give us the best season of the series yet.

Both of these guys have played some intriguing characters in the past, and I can imagine that them working together will surely make for an amazing third season, especially if they utilize some of that classic Messina humor.
