The Outsiders get unexpected help in their search for the metahumans and Halo, but have they underestimated Granny Goodness in episode 23 of Young Justice: Outsiders?

The Green Lantern Corps and the Justice League attack Granny Goodness’ Orphanage to rescue the kidnapped metahumans in the latest episode of Young Justice: Outsiders. But alas, Granny Goodness’ control over Halo/ Motherbox is too powerful – she knocks out the heroes within seconds with the anti-life equation.

Crisis of Conscience on Earth

But Granny Goodness’ fight isn’t only confined to space. On Earth, she is disparaging metahumans, blaming them for fictional robberies and attacks. Everything she says infuriates Gar Logan—if he isn’t thinking straight, how is he going to fight the upcoming battle?

Meanwhile, the other heroes on Earth aren’t faring that well, either. Black Lightning is struggling to deal with the many betrayals he has faced recently – Dr Helga Jace, the Bat-Family, and Miss Martian. Fortunately, a trip to meet his family sets him right. For now.

The same can’t be said of the other heroes. Nightwing is back in commission, barely. And M’gann and Connor are having a spat. Connor is upset that M’gann and the others lied to so many of the heroes about their plans. But more so, because of their staged battles to put the Outsiders on the world map. “Lies hurt,” says Connor. This couple have had a similar conversation before on Young Justice when M’gann used her abilities without consent on Superboy, and the time she ‘brainfry’d’ Kaldur’ahm; it nearly tore them apart that time. There may be no coming back from this.

Good news ahead – the Outsiders receive a surprise visitor, Vandal Savage! He promises to share Halo’s coordinates. The catch? He wants the team to let Halo’s kidnapper know that Savage sent them. This deal sounds too good to be true.

Vandal Savage’s coordinates get them just outside Halo’s location. This is too easy. But it’s also abundantly clear that the Justice League must have been taken out nearby. Just what the Outsiders need – more people to rescue. As Geo-Force leads the Beta team on a search for Violet, Miss Martian commands the Alpha team who must stop Granny’s goons.

Nightwing may be on this mission, but he hasn’t recovered completely. Aquaman is concerned about him, and he has good reason to be.  Nightwing gets knocked down by a parademon and starts hallucinating immediately – he sees Kid Flash, and imagines that the former Young Justice team are together once again.

Somehow, Nightwing still manages to complete the mission. The only problem is that M’Gann had psychically connected the team so everything Nightwing ‘saw’, they saw as well. They’re all feeling Wally’s loss, but that just helps them fight harder together.

The Markovs and Forager find Halo but Granny Goodness has a backup plan – the anti-life equation has turned the Justice League into mindless puppets and she sets them on the Outsiders. How are they going to win this?

Aquaman has a crazy plan to save the day – he asks M’gann to brain-fry the Justice League, the way she had once done to him. This is a terrible plan and Connor is incensed that Aquaman would suggest it, especially since Connor and M’gann had literally just been fighting about this. But if M’gann doesn’t do this, no matter the cost to her own soul, the universe is doomed.

The Outsiders are no match for the Justice League. As they wait for the Alpha squad to rush into this trap, they listen to Granny’s crazy plan for the universe; she intends to turn every meta into a weapon for Darkseid using Violet and the dream dimension, while non-metas will wither and die. Her dream dimension has an adverse on humans, which is why Dick didn’t recover as well as Jefferson after they were cast into that dimension.

As Granny gets ready to play her cards, M’gann manages to disable Granny Goodness’ control over the Justice League, but only for a moment. Halo/ Motherbox regains control, breaking M’gann’s hold on Granny and the mind-controlled Leaguers.
