Cowboy Bebop: Elena Satine joins Netflix’s live action adaptation
Netflix’s Cowboy Bebop adds Elena Satine to its growing cast!
The Gifted actress joins the four others already confirmed castings for the live-action adaptation of Cowboy Bebop. Deadline reports Elena Satine will be playing Julia, the woman who John Cho’s Spike Spiegel is infatuated with.
Cowboy Bebop is originally a successful anime program which follows a group of bounty hunters who have a heart of gold beneath their tough exterior. Of course, their price to “save the world” is steep but they’ll do it so long as their paid. Naturally, the teammates suffer from their own demons and the series will inevitably dive into the characters’ pasts and what they have to run from.
Julia is not only supposed to be beautiful, but she also has an incredible voice. She is a pivotal character in the original series but it’s unclear if the Netflix show will have her follow the same arc. Nevertheless, she doesn’t have an easy time living in such a violent world compared to some of the other characters.
The series is meant to be genre-bending and the logline sounds like a mixture of Guardians of the Galaxy and Firefly. Netflix is billing it as a “space western” and says it is “jazz-inspired”, which means it will probably make for some exciting television.

The cast so far is comprised of John Cho (Spike Spiegel), Daniella Pineda (Faye Valentine), Mustafa Shakir (Jet Black), and Alex Hassel (Vicious). There is no known premiere date yet for the series.
