Later, the Sheriff pulls Malcolm Beck’s fancy car over. When the Sheriff comes to his window, Malcolm warns him that he shouldn’t be playing this game, he has too many skeletons in his closet. The Sheriff instructs Malcolm’s driver to pop the trunk. Malcolm knows the Sheriff is looking for Tate and after he comes back from checking the trunk, Malcolm asks if the Sheriff really believes he’s that stupid.

The Sheriff tells him things need to come to a peaceful resolution as soon as possible, otherwise everyone’s going down. But Malcolm’s unconcerned about that. Instead he’s furious that the Sheriff referred to him by his first name. He tells the Sheriff he wishes he had children. The Sheriff lets him go.

As Malcolm drives away, he calls Teal. He leaves a voice mail message informing his brother that the Sheriff is no longer their friend. He instructs Teal to get out of the house and go to another location.

Meanwhile, the Sheriff calls John to inform him that Tate isn’t with Malcolm.

In his office at Yellowstone, John calls Thomas Rainwater. Rainwater heard about Tate from Monica’s grandfather. John recommends Rainwater stay on the reservation until things are sorted. Now that the Becks eliminated Jenkins, they’ll come after Rainwater next. Rainwater assures John he’s ready for that. Then he adds he’s sending someone to John. Rainwater thinks John will need him and also wants to demonstrate that, on this issue, he stands with John.

As soon as he hangs up, John makes another call. He instructs the individual on the other end of the line to “do it” and hangs up.

Kayce drives up to the off-duty officers at the Becks’ house. One of the officers tells him only Teal’s in the house and then insists on seeing his warrant. He then lets Kayce drive onto the property. Kayce sneaks up to the house gun in hand. He lets himself in and looks for Teal. He searches the house and finally finds him in the bathroom on the toilet.

Kayce shoots him multiple times and then asks for his son’s location. Teal says he doesn’t know so Kayce shoots him again. Teal tells him Tate’s with the Montana Free Militia and gives him their location. Teal is in shock and bleeding out.

Kayce asks him why he thought the Duttons wouldn’t fight back but Teal says nobody fights back. Kayce counters “until now.” Then, Teal realizes what’s about to happen and begs for his life — or at least a more dignified way to go. Kayce informs him that he promised his wife he’d kill him and shoots Teal dead. He then uses the gun to create what looks like returning gun fire and places the firearm in Teal’s limp hand.

At the ranch, John is speaking to Kayce on the phone about what he learned from Teal. Beth and Jamie follow him outside. Beth asks him what Kayce said but John doesn’t answer. Instead, he gives her a letter outlining a change he wants made to  the Yellowstone’s trust. As John walks away Beth reads the letter. Jamie asks what it says but Beth refuses to tell him.

Instead, she goes to see Rip, who’s feeding the horses. As Beth walks up, Rip tells her he feels silly feeding the animals given what’s happening. But Beth points out that no matter what they’re going through the animals still have to eat.

Beth asks Rip to walk with her. Beth takes him to a field and stops him. She then reads John’s note to him. It says that John’s grandfather had a dream of having all his sons working together on the same ranch but the dream died with John because he didn’t have enough sons. They kept dying or quitting. But then John realized that he had enough sons after all. Rip protests that he doesn’t understand. Beth translates: John’s giving Rip part of the ranch.
