Orange Is the New Black season 7, episode 10 recap: The Thirteenth

The guards find Lorna in the chicken coop, but what happens after, was totally uncalled for on this episode of Orange is the New Black.
Orange is the New Black kicks off this episode with the guards locating Lorna and TASING her. It was ridiculous, over the top, and completely out of line. But this is Litchfield, and things are anything but fair.
And while we’re on the topic of things not being fair, it’s so difficult to watch Red’s mental status decline so rapidly. It’s become clear that her dementia is continuing to worsen, and it’s so tough to watch.
Caputo is trying to redeem himself after his whole situation so he decides to hold sessions where the inmates talk about how they’re feeling. It actually proves to be one of the best things he’s done and allows for so many of them to face their demons. Ward couldn’t be happier with how well certain programs are going but is thrown for a loop when Caputo comes clean about his #MeToo situation and resigns.
Meanwhile, life on the outside has improved tenfold for our dear Piper. She’s connecting with people from her past including Larry and Polly. Alex, on the other hand, is having a breakdown as she uses her burner phone to look through Piper’s Instagram. It’s filled with outings with Zelda, and it’s driving Alex absolutely crazy.
Maybe Alex shouldn’t have suggested Piper step out of their marriage. And considering she’s been the one cheating, I’m not sure it’s fair for her to be getting angry about Piper. I’m glad Orange is the New Black is shedding a realistic light on this situation because it cannot be easy. It is why this series has always been so profound, and why, even it its final few episodes continues to be so.
There is so much depth to each character’s arc on Orange is the New Black, and Piper and Alex’s marital struggles are just one of them that is portrayed extremely well.
