9-1-1 season 3 premiere recap: Kids Today
By Ariba Bhuvad
9-1-1 is back with a bang as a tsunami heads right into Los Angeles–at the very end of the episode.
9-1-1 has officially kicked off its third season, and it hasn’t missed a beat. It’s the same drama, adrenaline, and story we all have come to love. All the promos have been hinting at this crazy tsunami that is going to overtake Los Angeles, but I’m sorry folks, that doesn’t happen until the very end of the episode. The real deal will take place in next week’s episode.
The season 3 premiere spends most of its time focused on Buck who went through the wringer at the end of season 2, leaving him in a wheelchair. 9-1-1 would lead you to believe that things are getting better for Buck and that he will be returning to work very soon. Psych! While at his own welcome back party, Buck started coughing up blood due to a pulmonary embolism.
I swear this show likes to keep us freaking out every moment of every episode. But fret not, Buck is alive and well, but he’s not going to be returning to work any time soon. This is something that’s he not very happy about at all and it essentially throws him into a depressive funk.
However, Eddie comes in clutch by bringing Christopher over to help cheer up Buck. The two of them head down to the pier for a day out, which is abruptly interrupted when GIANT waves started making their way towards the shore. Uh oh, a tsunami…in Los Angeles!? Next week’s episode isn’t going to go well, is it?
Nope, not well at all.
In other parts of this week’s 9-1-1 episode, things were just as crazy. The opening sequence involved a kid driving his dad’s expensive vintage car. However, there was just one problem. He couldn’t use the brakes and the car just continuously gained speed. Luckily, our first responders came to the rescue!
The craziest part of the episode, however, was the frightening case Maddie had to deal with. She receives a 9-1-1 distress call from a woman who was stabbed. But the plot twist comes when we find out that the woman was pregnant….and the baby is no longer inside of her stomach. And she’s stuck inside of a car trunk. Don’t worry, they find the woman and locate the woman who cut out and stole the baby, but still, how tragic and scary is that?
Only 9-1-1 could come up with such storylines, I swear.
Don’t miss all-new episodes of 9-1-1 every Monday on Fox at 8 PM EST!
