The Politician: A first look at Bette Midler and Judith Light
By Ariba Bhuvad
We just got our first look at Bette Midler and Judith Light in Netflix’s The Politician–and it’s delightful!
The Politician is finally premiering later this week, and words can’t express how excited I am. The series marks Ryan Murphy’s first for Netflix as part of his mega-deal, and it looks quite promising. Teasers and trailers have hinted as much, and that is in large part due to the stacked cast that is starring in it.
Along with Ben Platt, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Lange, and others, I think many of us are looking forward to seeing Judith Light and Bette Midler. I told you this cast was freaking cool! Thanks to Netflix, we got our first look at the dynamic duo in a new teaser trailer, as reported by Deadline.
“This is gonna be fun”, as said by Midler’s character in the teaser. Um, yes, it most definitely is. Based on what we see, it looks like it’s going to be one hell of a ride with these two in The Politician. And since Ryan Murphy is spearheading the entire thing, I can only imagine where the story is going to take us.
If you’re wondering who these two goofballs are going to be playing then we have the details here for you, thanks to Deadline. Light is playing a senator named Dede Standish who is up for re-election and Midler’s character, Hadassah Gold, is her chief of staff. In some way, shape, or form, their story will collide with Ben Platt’s character, Payton, who this series is centered around.
How their stories will come to cross paths is yet to be seen, but whatever it is, I am so here for it.
The Politician will tell the story of Payton, an ambitious high school kid who aspires to be President of the United States one day–at any cost. With the help of his close confidantes, he hopes to tackle his dream by starting in high school. How does Ryan Murphy’s usual vision fit into this? I have no idea, but I can’t wait to find out.
The Politician will be available for streaming on Netflix on Sept. 27th! Don’t miss it.
