Delilah: Arturo Castro joins upcoming HBO Max pilot

Arturo Castro joins upcoming HBO Max pilot, Delilah.

It’s been a big year for Arturo Castro, with his Comedy Central show, Alternatino, earning rave reviews. Now, Deadline reports the actor has officially joined the cast of Delilah, a new pilot for HBO Max.

Jessica Rothe (La La Land) has already been cast as the titular character, Delilah. Castro will take on the role of Pastor Dale, a minister at the local congregation. He’s immediately taken with Delilah, and he’s described as very likable and enthusiastic.

The series focuses on Rothe’s character after she experiences something life-changing. While she tries to pull her life back together, she may inadvertently pull it apart. According to the synopsis, Delilah is trying to connect with the man who could be her father (although he might not be) as well as the rest of his family. According to Deadline, Michael McKean has also been cast in a role.

Arturo Castro is most famously known for his role in Broad City as Jaimé Castro and Narcos as David Rodriguez. He is also in the upcoming Disney+ live-action remake of Lady and the Tramp, and has a supporting role in the new movie Semper Fi.

The series will be executive produced by Kirker Butler, Kapital Entertainment, Merman, Aisling Bea, and Jessica Rothe.

There is no word yet if Comedy Central plans to renew Alternatino for a second season however the critical reviews certainly warrant it.
