Stranger Things: Netflix renews hit series for season 4
Stranger Things is officially returning for seaosn 4!
While it doesn’t come as a big surprise, Netflix has announced the hit series will be back for another season. Deadline reported today the streaming service has renewed Stranger Things for season 4. Along with the announcement, Netflix released a short teaser for the news.
CW: Spoilers for Stranger Things season 3 will be discussed below!
It’s unclear what exactly the new season will look like based on the teaser and the season 3 ending.
With both Will Byers and Eleven exiting Hawkins in the finale, it seems to hint that the series will be exploring outside of the town. This makes sense, if the show ever wants to grow past the kids it will have to start setting up the world with more places to visit.
In their statement regarding the news, the Duffer Brothers at least confirmed the show will take place in Hawkins partially. Based on the teaser, the Upside Down will definitely be back as well.
"“We can’t wait to tell many more stories together — beginning, of course, with a return trip to Hawkins!”"
On top of the renewal, Netflix also revealed they struck a new deal with the Duffer Brothers. While no official numbers have been released, Deadline reports it could be similar to the massive contract the streaming service signed with D.B. Weiss and David Benioff.
There is no word when season 4 will begin production or air. Considering how long it took season 3 to wrap, fans might be in for the long haul. While the creators have spoken a bit about how long the show could continue, Netflix has said they leave that decision entirely in the hands of the Duffer Brothers.
