9-1-1 season 3, episode 2 recap: Sink or Swim
By Ariba Bhuvad
A tsunami just swallowed up most of the Los Angeles shore, and there are way too many precious 9-1-1 lives in danger. Will they all make it out alive?
9-1-1 is giving us quite the anxiety after this week’s tsunami episode. They’ve had their share of some ridiculous moments, but this one may top them all. Especially considering how the episode came to close.
Last week we left off with Buck and Christoper at the pier, having a jolly good time. Unfortunately, that turns into a frightening disaster when a tsunami hits the shore. There isn’t exactly any place to run and not enough time to do much at all. Buck grabs Christopher and runs until they find a place to hide in, which only keeps them safe until the waves hit.
Luckily, Buck is able to find Christopher soon after the waves hit and carry them away, and they find refuge on top of a fire truck. As time goes by, Buck tries to get as many people as he can to where he and Christoper are to keep them safe. Well, as safe as they can be given the circumstances.
Of course, of course, 9-11 loves to toy with our hearts so just when we think the waves have calmed down, another big one prepares to hit. And when it does, it takes Christopher overboard and absolutely nowhere in sight. He’s okay, right? Right? He has to be.
Meanwhile, Athena and her daughter face their own situation when they get into a car accident and end up stranded amidst the water and electrical cords. One man gets electrocuted, but what happens with another woman is the scariest thing of all.

Athena finds her hurt because of a wound to her neck and has her daughter help the woman through it. Eventually, the woman passes out and Athena’s daughter believes she has died. I can’t imagine how traumatizing that would be for someone so young. Much to her surprise and relief, the woman was actually alive and just fainted from all the blood loss and pain.
We properly meet Ronda Rousey’s character during this episode of 9-1-1 as she is part of the rescue team. Bobby and the rest of the boys help her and her team rescue boat and Ferris wheel survivors, in one of the show’s most victorious saves yet. Seriously, how do they manage to keep surprising us? I don’t get it.
Going into next week’s episode, we’re all just hoping that Christoper is alive and well. PLEASE BE OKAY!
9-1-1 airs every Monday on Fox at 8 PM EST!
