AMC dropped the first trailer for the new The Walking Dead spin-off. It still doesn’t have a name, but the plot is clearer. We’ve got details!

Back in July, Show Snob reported on a concept trailer for a new spin-off in The Walking Dead Universe. This weekend, at New York Comic Con, AMC dropped a proper trailer for the yet to be titled show. Set to premiere in Spring of 2020, the spin-off could be called The End Links. The trailer, which you can watch here, ends with a pronouncement from the cast that “we are the end links.” That’s not exactly catchy. More importantly, what’s the show about?

Ten years after the apocalypse, the first generation of children born in that world start to come of age. They live in a community of over 9,600 people. Those are the kind of numbers the Hilltop and Ocean Siders would only dream of on The Walking Dead. There is strength in those numbers, even after the apocalypse. While there is a lot of catching up to do with science, infrastructure, and healthcare, the community we see has power and relative safety. Walkers are a danger that can be controlled.

But, there’s the city. Organized crime and gun violence have been replaced by Walkers. And, it’s likely that the Whisperers of the world have converted themselves into techno oligarchs that try to control the flow of sophistication that the outlying communities can enjoy. What if pioneers went into the dangerous cities and sped up the process? Also, in a tried and true coming of age story, the younglings of the story want to experience the city before it changes forever or before they get too old. There’s even a mention of everyone’s favorite existential pursuit: making one’s life count.

The fresh, young cast includes Nicolas Cantu (The Amazing World of Gumball), Aliyah Royale (The Red Line), Hal Cumpston (Bilched), and Alexa Mansour (The Resident). The show was created by Scott Gimple and series writer/producer Matt Negrete.

The untitled spin-off will premiere on all AMC platforms in Spring of 2020. Keep checking Show Snob for the latest info on your favorite TV shows.
