HBO has ordered a late-night talk show pilot and new comedy special from the hilarious Sarah Silverman. We’ve got the details!

Per a report from Deadline, Sarah Silverman is returning to the world of talk shows in a new deal with HBO. Silverman, the creative force and host of Hulu’s talk series I Love You, America, is developing a late-night talk show pilot. The format of the show seems to be wide open. Topics will range from notable news items to beauty tips. Silverman is quoted in the article as saying

"“Nothing’s off the table and nothing’s too high or low brow for me. I mean, look at my face. I’m literally all brow.”"

Silverman, Judd Apatow, and Amy Zvi will executive produce the pilot. It’ll be a fun addition to the network that already has Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. Silverman’s take on a wider range of topics is sure to be as shareable and meme-able as Last Week Tonight, if not more. She can crack a joke that’ll cut you to the bone while making you laugh. Silverman has the experience, creativity, and vision to make something special with the talk show pilot.

It could also reignite the trend of getting news and meaningful commentary from comedians. Whether it be Last Week Tonight, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, or even the somewhat worn-out Real Time with Bill Maher, some of the most in-depth reporting comes from alternative news media. Sure, it’s great when comedians stick to comedy. But, more traditionally known news sources like CNN and ABC are leaning more towards entertainment with some journalism sprinkled in. Or, you know, Sarah Silverman’s show could just be plain funny for funny sake. I’d be cool with that.

A new comedy special is also part of the HBO deal. Silverman won an Emmy for her 2014 HBO special Sarah Silverman: We Are Miracles. So, there’s a successful relationship in place that includes Mr. Show with Bob and David and The Larry Sanders Show. Show Snob will keep you updated as more details are announced.
