Fox has finally released a teaser trailer for the upcoming 9-1-1: Lone Star, and give the producers credit for keeping us intrigued.

It was only a matter of time until Fox decided that its runaway hit 9-1-1 would require a spinoff. It was a risk, though, to bring it to Austin, TX.

Nothing against Austin, it’s an awesome town, but we thought that the creators of the series would go to one of the usual spinoff locales like New York or Miami. So we have to give tremendous credit to the creators for eschewing the usual cities and going instead with Austin for their spinoff series 9-1-1: Lone Star.

We’ve been in the know about the series for a while now, but it wasn’t until recently that Fox decided to finally drop the trailer and premiere date for a series their banking on following in the footsteps of the original 9-1-1.

As for the trailer, the teaser is just that — a tease.

We’re shown a lot of Rob Lowe and Liv Tyler, a fire at a plant of some sort, and not much else, which is actually a good thing. You want to keep viewers intrigued and interested in the show without giving up too much of the plot early, and Fox really excelled in making sure the main plot points were kept under wraps, while still getting a decent feel for what one will be in store for.

9-1-1: Lone Star follows Owen Strand (Lowe), a  New York Firefighter who was the lone survivor of his firehouse in Manhattan on 9/11. After rebuilding the station, he was tasked to do a similar rebuilding job in Austin, TX, and sensing a chance to start anew, he and his troubled firefighter son, T.K. (played by Ronen Rubinstein) take off to Texas where it seems Strand troubles may have followed him to the Lone Star State.

9-1-1: Lone Star will premiere with a two-night special starting on Sunday, Jan. 19 at 10 pm.
