Lucifer: Netflix will release the final episodes in two parts

Lucifer season 5 will be broken up into two parts.

According to series star, Tom Ellis, the upcoming final season of Lucifer won’t air all at once. Deadline reports that Netflix will drop the first eight episodes then put the series on a hiatus before releasing the final eight.

During The Kelly Clarkson Show, Ellis confirmed the format for fans. Originally, season 5 was supposed to comprise of only ten episodes however Netflix ended up ordering an additional six. The incredibly passionate fanbase is to thanks for the longer season, apparently their work is what had Netflix decide to extend the final season.

In fact, the fan campaign was one of the most impressive in recent history. The show was trending on social media and fans organized a massive campaign targeting networks to try and save the series. Warner Bros. TV did shop the series around, and Netflix decided to renew the show for a fourth season.

Lucifer stars Tom Ellis as the titular character, Lauren German, Rachel Harris, DB Woodside, Lesley Ann-Brandt, Aimee Garcia, Tricia Helfer, Scarlett Estevez, and Kevin Alejandro. Based on the characters from DC’s Vertigo line, the show follows Lucifer as he helps Detective Chloe Decker stop criminals in Los Angeles.

There is no word yet when season 5 will be available to stream on Netflix. However, the first four seasons of Lucifer are currently available for anyone who wants to catch up before the series ends.
