The Mad About You limited series reboot is coming to Spectrum Originals beginning November 20.

Mad About You fans can be happy about one guest star coming to the rebooted series starring Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt as Paul and Jamie Buchman.

Legendary comedienne Carol Burnett will reprise her role as Theresa Stemple, Jamie’s demanding mother. I should note that the role also was played by Penny Fuller (four episodes) and Nancy Dussault (one episode) before Burnett stepped into the role.

Burnett joins other original cast members, like John Pankow, who played Paul’s brother Ira, and Richard Kind, who appeared as friend Dr. Mark Devanow.

For those of you too young to remember the original run of the show, from 1992 to 1999 on NBC, Mad About You centered around Paul and Jamie navigating married life in New York City.

The show gave birth to Lisa Kudrow’s Ursula character, who eventually appears on Friends as Phoebe’s (evil) twin sister. You may have even seen a crossover episode where Hunt and Leila Kenzie (as Fran) pop up in the Central Perk and mistake Phoebe for Ursula.

During the show’s fifth season, Jamie and Paul have a daughter, Mabel. The series finale delved 20 years into the future, with Janeane Garofalo (Wet Hot American Summer) playing an adult Mabel.

The reboot will show take place 20 years in the future (this sounds familiar!) but will show Paul and Jamie dealing with empty nest syndrome after Mabel goes away to college. Mabel will be played by Abby Quinn (Little Women).
