HBO has released an intriguing new teaser trailer for Westworld season three and it’s not what you would expect.

A new teaser trailer for the highly anticipated third season of HBO’s Westworld has been released and it’s not at all what you would expect. There are no action-packed sequences or ominous, philosophical voiceovers, or even any of the series’ stars. Instead, it is an advertisement for a sleek tech company called Incite starring Liam Dempsey Sr. It almost plays like a parody of the kind of inspirational yet vague commercials for companies like Apple.

Incite claims they have “unprecedented computing capability” that can protect the climate or find you a career – all supported with generic footage of wind farms, city skylines, satellite arrays, and pedestrian traffic. Whatever it is Incite is offering, they promise they can make life less complicated and that the possibilities are endless.

Considering the commercial opens with the statement that “the world is complex, complicated, messy,” it sounds a little like the contemptuous criticism Doris might make about the world of humans. Could Incite be a sinister technological giant founded by Doris and her followers? And if so, what kind of service is Incite actually offering and what’s the payoff? At the same time, it also sounds like the kind of thing Bernard might say to try to explain human nature to Doris. This is just how the world is – this is what makes us human – and you can’t take that away.

A vague yet sinister technological giant sounds much more like Doris’s style though, so I’d be willing to bet she’s behind it. The teaser ends with a human eye turning bionic and displaying some kind of coding, followed by the phrase “Find Your Path.” Is Doris maybe tricking humans into taking on host bodies? Or, let’s be honest, she could be completely open about what she’s selling and humans would jump at the chance, but too late to discover what her true intentions really are.
