Brooklyn Nine-Nine: Renewed for season 8 ahead of season 7 premiere!

Less than a week after the season 7 premiere date was announced, Brooklyn Nine-Nine has been renewed for season 8. We’ve got the early details!
Bingpot! Brooklyn Nine-Nine has already been renewed for an eighth season! This comes less than a week after NBC announced the season 7 premiere date. News of the renewal seems to have broken first on Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Instagram, where they posted a video of a table read. An executive told the cast that they wanted to dispel any rumors about season 7 being the last for the Nine-Nine.
They did this by announcing the show had been renewed for season 8! The account captioned the video with “It’s a gr8 day to be a Nine-Niner!” The sound quality isn’t great on the clip, but the account gleefully responded to fan comments by confirming the renewal. You can check the post out here.
Stephanie Beatriz, who rules as Detective Rosa Diaz, posted an Instagram video where her and other members of the cast, including Melissa Fumero, Joe Lo Truglio, Joel McKinnon Miller, Dirk Blocker, and Terry Crews, celebrated the news after the table read. You check that post out here. The renewal has been confirmed by Deadline. They noted that the series’ ratings during its first season on NBC were up over 15% versus its last season on Fox. Deadline also notes that Brooklyn Nine-Nine is considered to be one of the top two live-action sitcoms on Hulu.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine is set to return to NBC’s lineup on Thursday, February 6 at 8:00 PM EDT with a one-hour season premiere. After that, the show will move to the 8:30 PM EDT time slot. The season 7 order is for 13 episodes. I was wondering if there would be a repeat of season 6’s extra order of 5 episodes. The early season 8 renewal may signal that season 7 will keep its current order.
