Apple TV has renewed Servant ahead of its series premiere this week. We’ve got the early details!

Per a report from Deadline, Apple TV has renewed Servant for a second season about a week before its first season hits the streaming service. The news was dropped on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. M. Night Shyamalan, one of Servant’s executive producers and directors, was there to discuss the show and the 20h anniversary of The Sixth Sense. You can watch the interview here.

Fallon makes the announcement at the very end of the interview and prefaces the renewal news by admitting that it hadn’t been public yet. Shyamalan didn’t have much of a reaction besides nods to confirm the news. It was funny because a large part of the interview revolved around Fallon repeatedly asking if Shyamalan liked it when people spoiled The Sixth Sense even though it’s been around for two decades. Shyamalan was affable, but said that he doesn’t like it because that ruins it for newer generations of fans that genuinely don’t know the major twist. I’m totally on board with that.

That makes Servant all the more interesting. The trailer introduces us to a family that hires a nanny for their small child. We learn that the child is actually an anatomically correct facsimile of a baby. Its there to help the mom grieve because their mother/baby bond was so tight. The nanny seems to be just as invested in the fake baby as the mom is. So, there’s a major plot point. Also, the doll is a major twist that is clearly set up in the trailer. That sets up a story centered on grief and, desperation, and a decline in mental health.

Servant stars Lauren Ambrose as Dorothy the grieving mom while Nell Tiger Free plays nanny Leanne Grayson. Dorothy’s husband Sean is played by Tony Kebbell and Rupert Grint plays Sean’s friend Julian. The first three episodes are set to drop on November 28 with the rest of the season streaming new episodes on Thursdays.
