Anne With an E: Netflix series expected to end with season 3
No season 4 for Anne With an E!
Sadly, Netflix’s Anne With an E won’t return for a fourth season. Deadline reports the Netflix/CBC series will end with its upcoming season 3 premiere on the streamer. Canadian viewers have already been able to watch the final episodes, which wrapped earlier this month.
The series is based on the novel by Lucy Maud Montgomery, called Anne of Green Gables, which followed the titular character of Anne. Moira Walley-Beckett created the television show, that still centers on Anne and various issues she must face. These include growing up, sexism, prejudice, love, and more. Walley-Beckett promised that the coming of age story will continue throughout the final season.
Amybeth McNulty stars as Anne Shirley Cuthbert, with Geraldine James, R.H. Thomson, Dalila Bela, Lucas Jade Zumann, Aymeric Jett Montaz, Corrine Koslo, Dalmar Abuzeid, and Cory Grüter-Andrew also have roles in the main cast.

Netflix and CBC released a statement together regarding the series and how grateful they are for the three seasons which exist.
"“We’ve been thrilled to bring the quintessentially Canadian story of Anne with an E to viewers around the world. We’re thankful to producers Moira Walley-Beckett and Miranda de Pencier and to the talented cast and crew for their incredible work in sharing Anne’s story with a new generation. We hope fans of the show love this final season as much as we do, and that it brings a satisfying conclusion to Anne’s journey.”"
Naturally, fans have not taken the news of the cancellation well. Already, Anne With an E viewers are trying to get the show saved. However, Netflix has been pretty clear about not selling the streaming rights for shows, it’s possible they could get a broadcast channel to save it. Or, perhaps with enough outcry and a passionate fan campaign, the series will come back for a fourth season on Netflix.
Anne With an E will be available to stream on Netflix starting January 3.
