V-Wars: Season One – December 5

Fans of The Vampire Diaries are going to go crazy over this one. V-Wars is a supernatural thriller in which a mysterious virus turns the infected into vampires. As scientists work to cure this plague, the new vampires start a war against humans to take over the world. Ian Somerhalder, who famously played the vampire Damon Salvatore on The Vampire Diaries, plays a doctor who is trying to find a cure.

Also, his best friend becomes the leader of the vampire rebellion. Also, the virus is released in ice melt due to climate change, so if you were preparing yourself for a future of dwindling resources, water scarcity, food insecurity, unliveable temperatures, superstorms, and mass extinction, you can also add ancient viruses to the list. Based on the trailer, the series looks dark and intense, if sometimes a little hokey. Like The Vampire Diaries, it feels like the perfect guilty pleasure show to get you through the dark days of winter.
