FanSided 250: Were Veronica Mars fans snubbed?
Where did Veronica Mars rank on this year’s FanSided 250?
There are few fandoms as strong as Veronica Mars. The show has managed to come back to life twice, once as a feature film and again this past year as a Hulu revival. It definitely earned its place on FanSided 250 this year, however, should it have been ranked higher?
Spoiler Warning: Veronica Mars season 4 will be discussed below!
Overall, Veronica Mars was at 142 this year and 14 on the Television rankings for FanSided 250. Based on the sheer force of the fandom, we do think there’s an argument the series could’ve been moved up a few spots. However, this year also saw the fans divided as shipping wars and overall dissatisfaction with the revival led to a lot of vitriol online.
Despite positive reviews from critics, the final minutes of season 4 will forever be considered divisive among fans. The show bid adieu to fan favorite, Logan Echolls, just after he married Veronica. What should’ve been a fairytale ending ultimately destroyed one of television history’s strongest ships. While we can understand where the writers were coming from with saying goodbye to Logan, many people were up in arms with the hope of getting the series canceled for good.
In fact, things got even more contentious with a few fans claiming Kristen Bell and Rob Thomas have always hated Logan and Veronica so they were to blame for the ending. It seems like the outrage may have worked, because Hulu announced there were no plans for a fifth season.
