12. Saturday Night Live (NBC)

Saturday Night Live has been a staple of Saturday night television for the past 45 years.

While that number is to be celebrated, it also begs the question of whether or not the venerable late-night sketch comedy show is nearing its end. Many look at Saturday Night Live and see a “Simpsons Problem,” as in, when is the right time for NBC to pull the plug.

Yes, the show still sees some solid ratings, but it can survive only so long on Trump jokes and special guests. Sooner-or-later, NBC will have to make a decision on Saturday Night Live, and the obvious answer will not be easy for anyone to really swallow.

Look, we get that Saturday Night Live is a television institution that has launched the careers of many of today’s biggest stars and comedians, but recently, the series has been having casting issues, and it seems as if the show’s remaining big stars are itching to continue their careers outside the Saturday Night Live bubble.

Does this mean NBC will cancel the series after this season? On the surface it doesn’t seem likely, but who knows what NBC brass is thinking these days?
