9. Carol’s Second Act (CBS)

Carol Kenney wanted to pursue a second career as a doctor and wanted everyone to see her achieve this.

If this was any other television season, Carol’s Second Act would nearly be a lock to get renewed for a second season. Being it’s the 2019-2020 season, no one is really sure if CBS’s will give Carol her “second act,” if you get our drift.

The show’s ratings are OK, averaging a 0.68 in the 18-49 demographic, but the Cancel Bear still has the show as a “tossup” as to whether the network will give Carol’s Second Act a second season to get its sea legs.

It all depends on whether Carol’s Second Act can grow its ratings. If it rises, it could get renewed, but I highly doubt it given the disastrous results of CBS’s other sitcoms this season, and this is with the hilarious Patricia Heaton leading a stellar cast.

So while it is a possibility the show could get renewed, the way new shows have been treated of late doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence within us. It sucks because, personally, Carol’s Second Act is one of the funnier new sitcoms on the primetime schedule this season.
