Sex Education: Netflix drops trailer for season 2
By Luke Lucas
Netflix has dropped a trailer for season two of Sex Education. It plays like a day time testimonial commercial for Otis Milburn. We’ve got the details!
Daytime television is loaded with commercials for allergy drugs, diapers, and self-help through kitchen cleansers. Overnight television is smothered by commercials for filing bankruptcy, erectile dysfunction, and discreet, yet obvious, phone-a-friend sex workers. Somewhere in the middle is the new trailer for season two of Netflix’s Sex Education. Several students are giving testimonials straight to the camera. For the most part, they’re all lauding the sex education given to them by Otis Milburn (Asa Butterfield). They include Maeve (Emma Mackey), Eric (Ncuti Gatwa), Ola (Patricia Allison), and Lily (Tanya Reynolds). You can watch the trailer here.
For every curious kid out there, a resource like Otis would be almost as exciting as your first kiss. For most parents, Otis is everything that’s wrong with modern society. It’s difficult enough for parents to go to board-certified sex therapists like Jean Milburn (Gillian Anderson), Otis’ mom. And Otis? Otis just needs some me time.
But, per a season two preview from Deadline, me-time is not on the calendar for Otis. He’ll be juggling a new relationship Ola while Jean will be dating Ola’s dad Jakob (Mikael Persbrandt). The families that date together, stay together. Unless Jean and Jakob get married. Then the whole Otis and Ola thing gets weird.
Per the Deadline report, the tagline for season two is “Life is hard. Love is messy. Messy is normal.” All eight episodes of the new season are written by series creator Laurie Nunn (Radiance). The season will be directed by Ben Taylor (Year of the Rabbit), Alice Seabright (End-O), and Sophie Goodhart (My Blind Brother). None of these names have a lot of credits on the good old IMDb, but they’re sure making a name for themselves with their work on this show. Netflix will begin streaming season two of Sex Education on Friday, January 17.
Are you excited for the return of Sex Education? Will Otis feel better about Jean’s book? Let’s discuss in the comments!
