Superman & Lois officially ordered to series at The CW

Fans of Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch’s Superman and Lois Lane, prepare yourselves for a full show about them! Spoilers for ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths’ ahead.
The Man of Steel and reporter extraordinaire have received the green light for a full show. We had reported that a Superman & Lois show was in the works, and now The CW has ordered it to series even before the pilot has aired. The first episode is set to film in spring of this year, with Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch resuming duties as Superman/ Clark Kent and Lois Lane respectively. No other cast members have been revealed as yet.
Hoechlin’s Superman will be the first to headline his own series since Smallville wrapped in 2011. That’s nearly a decade without the boy in blue. But, don’t expect the show to be all about punching bad guys. Superman & Lois will deal with the fan-favorite comic book couple tackling the life of working parents.
We can only imagine what kind of toll juggling their jobs as reporters, heroes and parents takes on them. Could the show end up with more of a soap opera vibe than an action-heavy one? The Arrowverse has never veered far from melodrama, but hopefully, Superman & Lois will maintain a healthy balance for viewers.
Following the events of ‘Crisis on Infinite Earths’, the landscape of the Arrowverse has changed dramatically. The multiverse is secure, but the age of heroes begins with Earth-Prime, where all the Arrowverse characters now live since their Earths have all been merged. Unfortunately, this world also worships Lex Luthor, who is seen as a hero by all. He even owns the DEO. How will that affect Superman on the show? Will Lex also have a connection to the Daily Bugle?
To many people’s surprise (including Clark), Superman and Lois are parents to two boys – we can only assume one is their biological son Jon Kent, and the other is the Lex Luthor-Superman clone Conner Kent.
Superman & Lois will fill the void left by the end of two CW flagship shows – Arrow and Supernatural. Though it hasn’t been announced when the show will air, it is expected to debut alongside the rest of the Arrowverse series this fall. While we wait for this new show to premiere, Supergirl returns on Sunday, January 19.
