IFC has set the premiere date for the fourth and final season of Brockmire. What can we expect in Jim’s final run around the bases? We’ve got the details!

The third season Brockmire came out of nowhere. Sure. The first two seasons proved the show could be as poignant as it was hilarious. But season three was a redemption story for the ages. Brockmire (Hank Azaria) battled to maintain his sobriety. He dealt with his past and made peace with loss. And, Jim battled one of the funniest, yet most career-threatening, cases of the yips imaginable. There’s good news for fans.

Deadline’s report from the Winter TCAs confirms that all of the character development remains intact. Jim has transformed himself from a washed up baseball announcer to the Commissioner of Major League Baseball. High speed, Jim. High. Speed.

I’m all in on this premise. Brockmire has always been out there, but the struggles of each character have always managed to keep the show grounded. In early 2020, a lot of people feel like society is edging towards a dystopian reality. And it’s in that dour society that our hero (yes, I called Jim a hero) must save baseball from a nation that would rather live stream their dog making poopies than watch nine innings of a game. Plus, Brockmire tries to repair his relationship with Jules (Amanda Peet) and create a relationship with his daughter Beth (Reina Hardesty). That’s right. Brockmire has a daughter now.

There’s a world in chaos, a daughter he never knew he had, and the ability to save the world (baseball) from destruction. Season four of Brockmire sounds like the totally cool cousin of season three of Ash Vs Evil Dead. Plus, Charles (Tyrel Jackson Williams) is returning as a guest star! Hopefully, he’ll help Jim spread the good word about baseball. You know, if there still are podcasts in 15 years. Per the Deadline report, the final season of Brockmire premieres March 18 at 10 PM EDT/ 8 PM CDT.
