House of the Dragon, Game of Thrones spinoff: Launch, details
Do you want to go back 300 years and discover how the Targaryen dynasty began? Yes, us too. Enter House of the Dragon with Show Snob.
While most of us have hopefully recovered from Game of Thrones‘ final season and moved on to bingeing other great shows – we all know our new obsessions will never replace, replicate or challenge the undeniably incredible GoT. Happily, HBO has updated information about the green-lit Westeros spinoff, House of the Dragon.
Although, it, unfortunately, looks as though we’ll have to wait two years at the absolute minimum to watch the premiere. That is according to HBO president Casey Bloys, per TVLine. Additionally, the outlet states that the spinoff was created by George R.R. Martin with assistance from Ryan J. Condal
So that gives the avid fans like myself time to view all eight installments before the new show begins. Yay.
Details for House of the Dragon
Set roughly three hundred years before the current time seen in GoT, House of the Dragon may lead up to Daenerys’ birth. But obviously she, and her immediate family, won’t be around at the time of the new show. It will, however, focus on Targaryen ancestry.
Some regions covered in the House’s history include: Summerhall, Dragonstone, Slaver’s Bay, Valyria and Crownlands. Therefore we can expect those as settings, depending on what time is spent and elapsed of eras depicted.
The fresh series will contain 10 episodes and is based on Blood & Fire, also penned by fantasy author and genre legend Martin.
