61st Street: AMC casts Tosin Cole & Bentley Green in upcoming drama
61st Street continues to expand its cast.
AMC’s upcoming courtroom drama adds two more to its slowly growing ensemble. Deadline reports Tosin Cole (Doctor Who) and Bentley Green (Snowfall) are joining 61st Street, alongside the already cast Courtney B. Vance.
The series follows Moses Johnson, a young and gifted athlete, who is wrongfully accused of being a gang member. A corrupt Chicago justice system puts him in danger as both cops, prosecutors, and more want vengeance after an officer dies during a drug bust.
Tosin Cole is set to play Johnson, who is ripped off the path he worked hard to forge. According to the character description, Johnson is only a day away from leaving for college in New Hampshire where he earned a scholarship.
Meanwhile, Bentley Green has been cast as Joshua Johnson, Moses’ younger brother. He has been trying to adapt to the idea of being the “man of the house” when his brother leaves until things begin to unravel.
Courtney B. Vance, who was cast earlier in the process, is set to play a public defender named Franklin Roberts. While he was prepared to retire and spend more time with his family, including his autistic teenage son, Roberts is pulled back into the fold in order to help Moses.
61st Street already has a two season order, with each season set to consist of eight episodes. The show is expected to premiere sometime in 2021.
