Shonda Rhimes’ Inventing Anna adds Jennifer Esposito to cast

The upcoming Shonda Rhimes show adds another star to its cast.

Shonda Rhimes is bringing her infamous Shondaland talent to Netflix with her upcoming limited drama series, Inventing AnnaOzark’s Julia Garner and Veep’s Anna Chlumsky previously joined the cast, and according to DeadlineNCIS’ Jennifer Esposito is the next to join.

The cast is starting to come together with a band of badass females, and I haven’t even started talking about the plot yet. The new Shondaland/Netflix series is based on the New York magazine article, “How Anna Delvey Tricked New York’s Party People”.

A limited series? Based on just one article? Color me impressed.

As it turns out, however, this particular article garnered a lot of attention because of its subject matter–one Anna Delvey. Back in 2013, she moved to New York City and pretended to be an heiress (this is a true story, by the way!).

Inventing Anna will go into detail about this whole scandal with Chlumsky playing the role of the journalist who investigates it all. Meanwhile, Garner is set to play the German heiress/con woman/Instagram star, which I am very excited about. Garner has some incredible talent and when you think about the whole Anna Delvey situation, I think Garner is the perfect person to play the role.

Esposito will be playing the role of Talia Mallay, the owner of a fancy, lavish brand that is a big part of the social circle in New York City. From NCIS to this? It should be quite an interesting change for her, don’t you think?

Along with Garner, Esposito, and Chlumsky, Inventing Anna has a stacked cast (super stacked!) all courtesy of Shonda Rhimes and her brilliance.

[…] also includes Katies Lowes, Laverne Cox, Alexis Floyd, Arian Moayed, Anders Holm, Anna Deavere Smith, Jeff Perry and Terry Kinney.

There are no updates on when we can expect Shonda Rhimes’ Inventing Anna to begin production or when we can expect it to premiere on Netflix. However, we have long been waiting for Rhimes’ Netflix work to begin, and this brings us one step closer to seeing it on our screens.
