The Mysterious Benedict Society: Tony Hale set to star in Hulu adaptation
Tony Hale is heading to Hulu for his next television project!
The Mysterious Benedict Society has nabbed its first major star. Deadline is reporting that Tony Hale is set to board the Hulu adaptation of the popular young adult novel. Technically, Hale will actually be playing the two stars, since the main characters are actually brothers.
The novel, written by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi, revolves around an “eccentric benefactor” Mr. Benedict who takes on four orphans for a special mission. The kids are sent to a boarding school, called The Institute, where they’re tasked with stopping an evil plan that could destroy the world. However, they’ll have plenty of time to bond and make their own family despite the espionage they’ve been recruited for.
Tony Hale is set to play Mr. Benedict, who is quite mysterious but always described as nice and kind. In fact, his character doesn’t want to put the kids in danger but ultimately feels like it’s a necessary decision. Hale will also get to play Benedict’s twin brother, Mr. Curtain who is quite austere and “put together”. Mr. Curtain is also described as villainous, so it seems likely he will have some hand in the plot his brother is desperately trying to stop.
There is no other word on who else has been cast in the upcoming series or when a projected premiere date is expected.
