Outer Range: Josh Brolin tapped to star in Amazon mystery series
Josh Brolin is returning to television for Outer Range!
Amazon’s upcoming mystery series, Outer Range, has found its star. Deadline reports that Josh Brolin is set to lead the new show as well as executive produce the drama.
Outer Ranger follows a Wyoming rancher, named Royal Abbott, who faces the hardships of maintaining his ranch, his family, and his “way of life”. However, he stumbles upon something “Unknown” when he stumbles upon something mysterious and unexplainable.
Josh Brolin is set to step into the role of Royal Abbott. Nothing else is known about the character or who else will be joining the cast. Brolin was last on television on Mister Sterling in 2003 but has since been featured in many popular movies. He played Thanos in the MCU, Cable in Deadpool 2, and is set to star in the upcoming Dune film.
Outer Range is created by the playwright, Bryan Watkins, who is also set to executive produce alongside Brolin, Zev Borow, Heather Rae, and Plan B Entertainment. Amazon recently struck a deal with Plan B Entertainment, and this show is the first project between the two.

The series is the first television show for both Borow and Watkins. The former is adapting the film, The Assassination of Bangwain Spurge and is also expected to produce Ultraluminous. Meanwhile, Watkins’ play, Epiphany, wrapped a successful summer run in the Druid Theatre and is heading to Lincoln Center Theater in the fall.
