Unorthodox: Miniseries – March 26

This four-part mini-series follows Shira Haas as an Orthodox Jewish woman who moves to Berlin from her home in New York, fleeing her orthodox life and an arranged marriage. The series, which is presented in a mixture of Yiddish and English, is a deeply personal project for many involved. Eli Rosen of the New Yiddish Repertory Theater in New York is translating the series, while co-star Jeff Wilbusch says he finds his role especially challenging.

"“Almost 20 years after leaving the community myself, I’m playing an ultra-orthodox character here for the first time and speaking my native Yiddish on screen. Unorthodox is a special challenge for me and a chance to confront my past.”"

The series is based on Deborah Feldman’s best-selling memoir of the same name and sounds like an incredibly honest and unique passion project for everyone involved.

Ozark: Season 3 – March 27

What to say about Ozark season three? Fans of Jason Bateman’s dark crime thriller have been waiting for the third season to drop since it’s estimated release last fall, but now the wait is almost over. Last season ended on somewhat of a cliffhanger when family patriarch Marty (Bateman) was on the cusp of going legit and moving his family safely to Australia when his wife Wendy (Laura Linney) decided she wanted to stay in business on their riverboat casino.

Season three sees the addition of Tom Pelphrey (Ward Meachum, my favorite character from Marvel’s Iron Fist) to the cast as Wendy’s brother Ben. Chances are that Wendy’s choice will land her family in more danger and put a strain on her marriage. Chances of a happy ending are very low.
