The Old Man: Gbenga Akinnagbe and Bill Heck join FX series
Jeff Bridges’ upcoming FX series, The Old Man, has added two new leads. Gbenga Akinnagbe and Bill Heck are set to join the new show.
FX’s upcoming series has added two new cast members. Deadline reports Gbenga Akinnagbe and Bill Heck are both set to join Jeff Bridges in the drama, The Old Man.
The series is based on the hit novel by Thomas Perry, but will be adapted by Jon Steinberg and Robert Levine. It revolves around Bridges’ character, Dan Chase, a former CIA agent who chooses to live a life “off the grid”. However, his retirement is cut short when an assassin pursues him and forces him to deal with his past.
Bill Heck is set to play the younger version of Dan Chase, a role originally played by Austin Stowell but is now recast. Specifically, Heck will play Chase thirty years before the events of the series during the Soviet-Afghan war on a specific mission. It seems like this will be integral for the present timeline.
Meanwhile, Akinnagbe will play the assassin who goes after Chase. His character is named Julian, apparently shares many similar qualities to Chase. The special ops trained killer will be a difficult foe for Chase to reckon with.
There is no set premiere date for the series, but it is expected to debut sometime in the fall. It will air on the “FX on Hulu” category like Devs right now.
