Power is one of the most popular Starz shows available right now. The crime drama is not only one of the channel’s highest-rated shows, but Power is one of the most-watched shows on cable in general. It received a lot of praise for its acting, writing, and pacing.
Power follows a renowned drug dealer named James St. Patrick with the nickname “Ghost.” He wants to escape from the drug world to pursue his dream of becoming a nightclub owner, but untangling himself from a life of crime is much trickier than he expected.
James has to learn how to balance his two opposing worlds while maintaining his personal relationships and economic goals. The series also has a large ensemble cast, many of whom have become extremely popular with fans over the years. The final season of the show wrapped in February but four spin-off series are in the works.
1. The Girlfriend Experience
The Girlfriend Experience is a Steven Soderbergh-produced anthology series that helped launch the career of actress Riley Keough. The show only has two seasons so far, but it was renewed for a third season last summer. While both current seasons are good, the first season, in particular, is worth watching. The third season will star Julia Goldani Telles of The Affair fame.
The show revolves around the lifestyle of a high-end escort. Keough plays a law school student who becomes an escort to help pay her bills. She slowly becomes more immersed in providing the “girlfriend experience” to her clients and also discovers corruption at her law firm.
Season two has two parallel storylines. One storyline revolves around two women involved in a political campaign, one is an escort and the other is a finance director. The two women become involved in a high-stakes blackmail scheme. The second storyline focuses on Bria, a former escort who revives her career while in Witness Protection which threatens her new life.
No word yet on when season three will premiere.
