Freud: When will Season 2 air on Netflix?

Freud is a ludicrous and fantastically fun new German crime thriller on Netflix. Fans are dying to know if it will be renewed and when Season 2 might air.

Freud is a wacky new historical fiction series on Netflix that has little to do with the real story of Sigmund Freud but is very enjoyable all the same. The show is a German crime thriller with mysterious occult elements. It features Freud as a hypnotist trying to help solve a thread of strange occurrences throughout turn-of-the-century Vienna.

Considering many of us have little to do right now other than binge-watch television shows, lots of people have devoured all eight episodes of Freud‘s first season. Many are eager to see more, especially after the exciting twists and turns of the season finale.

Unfortunately, Netflix has yet to announce whether the show will be back for another season. That said, the odds are in Freud‘s favor for a few reasons. As Bustle reported, the show performed very well in Austria, earning over 400,000 views. It also received Romy Academy Award nominations for Best TV Series and Best Production TV Fiction.

Netflix doesn’t release its internal numbers, so we can’t know how it did on the streaming service. Still, based on social media chatter, people seem to be responding well to the show’s crazy storylines and captivating characters.

If it does get a coveted renewal, when can we expect to see the second season air on Netflix?

Sadly, the earliest it will probably be available is sometime in the summer of 2021. No shows are filming right now due to the health crisis, and it is unlikely to change for at least a few more months.

Netflix is known for having long wait times between seasons, and the impact of production shutdowns will be felt for years to come. We might have to wait as long as two or three years for a second season to be available, but let’s hope for some time in 2021.
