Carnival Row is a neo-noir fantasy series and an Amazon Prime Original. It stars Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne as star-crossed lovers attempting to survive in a war-torn world where mythical creatures are treated like pariahs. Bloom plays Rycroft Philostrate, an Inspector who uncovers a dark conspiracy in the city.
His investigation begins when a grisly murder occurs on Carnival Row. Rycroft is unlike many of his coworkers. As a veteran of the war, he can sympathize with the fae and their plight. On the other side of the spectrum is Delevingne’s character, Vignette Stonemoss, a fae and former lover of Rycroft’s.
Vignette was believed to have died during the war but then returns to Carnival Row. Like Freud, Carnival Row is a period drama with mystical elements that revolves around a mysterious trail of bodies. Carnival Row has been renewed for a second season.
