What Gabriel Saw

Gabriel confesses to the FBI that he lied about not seeing Asher, but only because the FBI has made up charges against him in the past. Gabriel was the one who called 911 as well. That’s not entirely the truth, though. Gabriel heard the loud knocks on Asher’s door, and then the sound of the poker hitting Asher.

Gabriel lay down on the ground to get a better look and saw Asher in a pool of blood. At first, Gabriel didn’t think he saw the killer, but he recalled catching a glimpse of someone walking down the stairs. When Gabriel talks to Michaela and the others, he surmises that Laurel Castillo is back in town, and she’s the one who did Asher in.

Gabriel is so convinced of his theory that he rushes back to the FBI to amend his statement. When the FBI hear of this new theory, they call in the lead investigator – Special Agent Pollock. Gabriel immediately realizes his mistake. Asher’s killer wasn’t Laurel; it was Agent Pollock.

So, who is Pollock? Let’s take you back to before the season hiatus. Earlier in this season, a mysterious woman had knocked on Annalise’s door, asking about her Airbnb. She was a guest and couldn’t find the right location. Her room turned out to be opposite Annalise’s apartment.

Since you can’t ignore any plot point in How to Get Away with Murder, this woman, Sara Gordon (Deborah Levin), was a plant by the Castillo family sent to spy on Annalise. She was informing on Annalise’s movements and even cut the brakes on Bonnie’s car, nearly killing her.

And now we discover that Sara Gordon is heading the investigation to take down Annalise Keating. As Annalise had feared, the Castillos are desperate to get her. They’ve even got the FBI in their pockets. It’s obvious that they’re willing to do anything to win. They’ve killed Asher, who’s next?
