8. The Simpsons (1989 – )

Not every FOX series is easy to find (such as In Living Color). However, you can check in with Homer, Marge, Lisa, Maggie, Mr. Burns, Moe, and Barney Gumble easiest on Disney+, which has more episodes than anywhere else. What does that mean?

If you’re one of those people who discriminate against any newer episodes, you can always check out the older ones. Most agree that those often still hold up today. Also, if you have FXNOW, you should be able to watch The Simpsons when it’s regularly scheduled.

The Simpsons is streaming on Disney Plus and FXNOW (as scheduled).

7. Keeping Up Appearances (1990–1995)

Plenty of Americans probably aren’t aware of this series, but it used to air regularly on PBS stations back in the ’90s. With Keeping Up Appearances no longer on Netflix, you can find Hyacinth Bucket jarringly brandishing her superiority over at BritBox, which is available as a standalone site or an Amazon Prime channel.

The series is often considered among the best British sitcoms, and deservedly so. In addition to Patricia Routledge’s silliness, you can surely enjoy the characters of Richard Bucket, her jaded husband, as well as Liz, Daisy, Onslow, and Rose.

If nothing else, Hyacinth is responsible for one of the best lines in all of sitcom history: “If there’s one thing I can’t stand, it’s snobbery and one-upmanship. People trying to pretend they’re superior. Makes it so much harder for those of us who really are.”

Few quotes sum up a character so well.

Keeping Up Appearances is streaming on BritBox.
