2. Bob’s Burgers (2011– )

The Emmy-winning Bob’s Burgers has entered the cartoon family comedies pantheon, with the Belcher family – Bob, Linda, and their children Tina, Gene, and Louise – making dysfunction look fun as hell. In addition to Hulu, you should be able to catch this show on Adult Swim and TBS.

Feel free to sing along to some of their greatest hits while you’re at it, like “Bad Things Happen in the Bathroom” and “Electric Love.”  You may also want to try some of the Belcher family burger recipes…well, the more edible ones anyway.  It’s one of the best, animated comedies around.

Bob’s Burgers is available on Hulu, Adult Swim, and TBS.

1. Succession (2018– )

This multi-award winning series features a billionaire family full of jerks trying to keep their media empire above ground. With fine performances and a near-perfect blend of dark humor and drama,

Succession keeps building a name for itself. While most of the family comedies on this list are silly, if not literal cartoons, it’s probably a good idea to have at least one comedy-drama in the mix. Be warned, though: Some viewers might find this show to beat them over the head with bleakness, as this family gets more dysfunctional by the episode.

Succession is available on HBO.
