Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Special releases teaser trailer and premiere date

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’s interactive special now has a teaser trailer and release date! Here’s what we know about “Kimmy vs. the Reverend.”

We thought we already said our goodbyes to Kimmy Schmidt and the gang last year in the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt finale, but they’re back! And, they’re taking on the Reverend in “Kimmy vs. the Reverend.” Fans of the upbeat Netflix comedy were originally teased with the idea of a series finale released as a film, but that idea was scrapped for an interactive special.

Netflix interactive specials have been done before; as seen in a lot of animation series, and of course, fan-favorite Black Mirror’s “Bandersnatch.” In “Kimmy vs. the Reverend” fans will be able to make decisions that will ultimately affect the outcome of the episode.

When we last saw Kimmy Schmidt, she was basking in her new success as a children’s author; comparable to that of J.K. Rowling. Now, she’s strapping on her veil and heading down the aisle to marry Prince Frederick Windsor who’s played by none other than Harry Potter actor, Daniel Radcliffe. Although the couple is only briefly shown in the trailer, I have an inkling that I’m going to be absolutely swooning over this ship.

The teaser trailer also shows, what appears to be very determined, Kimmy and Titus riding their ribbon-donned bicycles. Are they on their way to take down the Reverend? Or are they late to Kimmy’s wedding cake tasting appointment? There are so many questions that arise in this seventeen-second trailer, and I just can’t wait to have answers.

My biggest question though does not deal with fancy dresses or delicious cake, but instead — how does the gang plan on taking down the man who once kept Kimmy Schmidt in a bunker? In the teaser trailer, we see the Reverend behind his glass imprisonment repeating Kimmy’s name over and over. In true Kimmy Schmidt and ’90s-era fashion, we get the response “That’s my name. Don’t wear it out.” Nice burn, Kimmy!

I’m just looking forward to the shenanigans that are sure to take place in this interactive special, and can’t wait to explore all of the different outcomes!
