Expect to see more actors reprise their roles on Star Trek: Picard. LeVar Burton has revealed that he will return as Geordie LaForge.
The first season of Star Trek: Picard recently concluded and featured several members from previous Star Trek shows.
Along with lead protagonist Sir Patrick Stewart’s Jean-Luc Picard, the show also saw Jeri Ryan, Brent Spiner, Jonathan Frakes, Marina Sirtis, and Jonathan Del Arco reprise their roles as Seven of Nine, Data, William Riker, Deanna Troi, and Hugh, respectively. Viewers can now expect more franchise characters to appear in the second season of the show.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, LeVar Burton was hesitant before finally confirming that he will guest star as Geordie LaForge when Star Trek: Picard returns. While nothing has been written or shot as yet, Burton’s return “has been talked about.”

LaForge was the Chief Engineer aboard the USS Enterprise-D. His iconic look included a visor to help him see. In later appearances in Star Trek properties, LaForge’s look evolved and was altered to colorful contact lenses.
Burton suggested that the old Enterprise crew are most likely still a part of Picard’s life and hinted that the rest of the Star Trek: The Next Generation cast would all make an appearance on the show.
But he emphasized that the cast may not turn up at the same time.
Sir Patrick has already invited Whoopi Goldberg to bring back her character Guinan in the second season. And it seems like we may also get a glimpse into the retirement life of LaForge, Gates McFadden’s Dr. Beverly Crusher and Michael Dorn’s Worf.
Burton imagines LaForge to have moved on from Starfleet and taken up teaching to share his knowledge with the next generation.
Some alternate timelines featured in previous franchise shows saw LaForge captain a Starfleet ship, while others saw him retire and become a writer. He discussed how close the Star Trek family remains, and Burton said that he has faith in the showrunners to give Geordie a fitting storyline.
