Paul Rudd and Will Ferrell’s new true crime series The Shrink Next Door has officially landed at Apple TV+, find out more!

Anchorman stars Paul Rudd and Will Ferrell are reuniting for a new comedic limited series titled The Shrink Next Door. According to Den of Geek, the show will officially premiere on Apple TV+.

The Shrink Next Door is based on a popular podcast and not only will Ferrell and Rudd star in the series, but they also helped create it. Apple TV+ has ordered the show go straight to series for eight episodes.

Rudd will play Dr. Isaac “Ike” Herschkopf and Ferrell will play opposite him as his longtime patient Martin “Marty” Markowit. Michael Showalter of The Big Sick and Wet Hot American Summer fame will direct the project while Ferrell will serve as one of the executive producers.

More from Apple TV Plus

If you’re unfamiliar with the original podcast, The Shrink Next Door is about a journalist named Joe Nocera who is invited to a party by celebrity therapist, Dr. Herschkopf. However, while at his opulent residence, Nocera learns that the good doctor does not own the house. In fact, it belongs to his patient, Martin Markowit.

From there, Nocera dives deep into the strange and unorthodox relationship between doctor and patient. The podcast remained at the top of Apple’s charts for three straight weeks, says Den of Geek.

Per the article, Apple is describing the show as a series that “explores how a seemingly normal doctor-patient dynamic morphs into an unprecedentedly exploitative relationship filled with manipulation, power grabs, and dysfunction at its finest.”

No air date has yet been set for the series. Due to current production shutdowns, it will likely be a while before we see it on Apple TV+. However, the show is following in the footsteps of other popular true crime series on the streaming service such as Truth Be Told and Defending Jacob.
