3. Sweet Magnolias (Season 1) – May 19

Sweet Magnolias is an upcoming romantic drama series based on the novel of the same name by Sherryl Wood. It sounds like it will appeal to fans of Netflix’s previous romantic drama, Virgin River, as the two shows were ordered to series around the same time.

Deadline reports that Sweet Magnolias “centers on three South Carolina women, best friends since high school, as they shepherd each other through the complexities of romance, career, and family.”

It has a great cast, too, with actresses like JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Brooke Elliott, Heather Headley, and Jamie Lynn Spears leading the ensemble. It’ll be interesting to see Spears in the cast as this is her first major acting role in years.

2. Control Z (Season 1) – May 22

Make sure you check out the show Narcity is calling a “thrilling mixture of Gossip Girl meets Black Mirror!” That sounds amazing and I’m completely sold on that idea.

The plot is simple, at a high school, someone hacks into everyone’s social media accounts and begins to release juicy secrets everywhere.

It sounds a little bit like Assassination Nation, too. I’m excited to see what the series has to offer. It has gotten a lot of comparisons to Netflix’s Elite, and is also a Spanish series.

Space Force is easily one of the most anticipated new shows coming to Netflix in May. The series stars Steve Carrell and many other notable comedic actors in a new workplace comedy.

It centers around a group of people who are given the difficult task of presiding over and coming up with a space force as part of the United States’ sixth branch of government. Along with Carrell, the series also stars Lisa Kudrow, John Malkovitch, Diana Silvers, Ben Schwartz, and more.
