3. The Expanse

The Expanse is a hybrid series since it started as A Syfy original before getting asked and then subsequently rescued by Amazon. But it has quickly gone on to become one of the best Amazon Prime Originals currently available on the service.

If you’re familiar with the book series written by James S. A. Corey, then you’re fully aware of how immersive and compelling this show is.

Not to compare another show to Game of Thrones, but there are some similar elements concerning rich worldbuilding and fantastic characters, except the setting is very different. The Expanse follows a group of antiheroes in a colonized solar system long after humanity’s collapse.

2. Fleabag

Phoebe Waller-Bridge wrote and starred in both seasons of the critically-acclaimed and Emmy Award-winning series, Fleabag. It is a British comedy based on Phoebe’s one-woman show. It revolves around the character of Fleabag, who is a young woman living in London.

She is very witty and has a dry sense of humor. The show follows her as she tries to navigate through life and love in the city while rejecting anyone that tries to lend her a helping hand.

You’d be hard-pressed to find a list of the best Amazon Prime Originals that doesn’t include Fleabag or the next selection: The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

1. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

Another one of Amazon’s breakout hits and an Emmy Award winner, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, is set in the 1950s and revolves around the character of Miriam “Midge” Maisel. Midge has a seemingly perfect life with a husband, kids, and a charming home on the Upper West Side in New York.

But then she discovers that she has a secret talent for stand-up comedy and sets about pursuing her new passion despite all the challenges and entanglements it provides.
