4. Twin Peaks

Twin Peaks did not start as a Showtime series. When it first aired back in the early ’90s, the series premiered on ABC. However, it was brought back for a special revival season with David Lynch and many of the original cast returning.

When Showtime decided to air the revival, they also purchased the rights to the first two seasons to ensure all of them were available to stream as a complete series. While the first two seasons are available to watch on Hulu and Netflix, you’ll need Showtime to watch Twin Peaks: The Return.

For those who have never seen Twin Peaks, it is worth watching at least once, as many consider it to be one of the greatest television series of all time. It begins with the murder of a homecoming queen and evolves into a surreal, immersive, and unforgettable experience.

3. The Borgias

The Borgias is a juicy historical-fiction drama that revolves around the infamous Borgia family in Renaissance-era Italy. Rodrigo, the family patriarch, brings his family of outsiders from Spain as they try to take control of the country.

They use whatever it takes to rise to the top, including torture and bribery. Rodrigo eventually becomes the pope while his children get married to rival family members. Their story has inspired many popular works, including Mario Puzo’s The Godfather.
