Netflix’s Cursed: Katherine Langford becomes a sword-wielding heroine

We finally have new images from the upcoming fantasy series, Netflix’s Cursed, based on the illustrated novel of the same name.

Katherine Langford stars in Netflix‘s Cursed, an upcoming summer series based on the illustrated novel of the same name written by Tom Wheeler and illustrated by comic artist Frank Miller. Both Miller and Wheeler will serve as executive producers on the series.

While most people are familiar with the iconic Arthurian legend of King Arthur and the magical sword Excalibur, many aren’t aware that in some versions of the story he is gifted the sword by Nimue, also known as the Lady of the Lake.

Langford will play Nimue in this alternate telling of the ancient legend. She will have to wield Excalibur and become the eponymous and mysterious Lady of the Lake, in this version of the story.

Wheeler spoke with Entertainment Weekly recently about what fans can expect to see from the series.

“Realizing these characters from page to screen was a unique and thrilling creative challenge. I think first and foremost when casting for Cursed, Frank and I were looking for a mythological truth, actors who could bring the emotion and the humanity to legendary characters without losing the sense of elemental magic and epic stakes,” Wheeler told the outlet.

“Led by Katherine Langford, who is equal parts classic hero and sword-swinging badass, this extraordinary cast has brought such depth, commitment, and heart to this story. We can’t wait to introduce them to audiences around the world,” he concluded.

The outlet also gives fans a sneak peek at the upcoming tie-in novel cover.

As for Arthur and Merlin, well Arthur will be present in the series. Played by Devon Terrell, Arthur will be a young mercenary who teams up with Nimue as they try to track down the wizard known as Merlin and give him the ancient sword.

Merlin will be portrayed by Gustaf Skarsgård (yes, another member of the famous Skarsgård family).

The series has been labeled a coming-of-age story that will also deals with religious themes and explore the idea of senseless wars and finding courage in the face of hardship.

Unfortunately, we don’t have a  release date or trailer yet, but Netflix did release tons of new images for their new series and we’ve included some below for you to get a glimpse of what’s to come!
