He once played the notorious bounty hunter Jango Fett, but Temuera Morrison is now set to don the armor of Boba Fett on The Mandalorian.

We are a few months away from the sophomore season of Star Wars spin-off series The Mandalorian, and a new cast member has been added.

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Temuera Morrison, who starred in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones, will be making a brief appearance as Boba Fett. Morrison had played Boba Fett’s father, Jango Fett, in the film, where Mace Windu decapitated his character.

Morrison’s Jango Fett was a bounty hunter, as well as the original template for the clones created on Kamino. Morrison also played the clones that went on to fight in the Clone Wars, alongside the Jedi, before turning on their allies during the execution of Order 66. Jeremy Bulloch portrayed Boba Fett in the original Star Wars trilogy, and by Daniel Logan in the prequels.

The eventual appearance of Boba Fett on The Mandalorian was hinted at in the first season of the show. A mysterious figure wearing Fett’s familiar spurs was seen in the closing moments of episode five, ‘The Gunslinger.’

That episode took place on Tatooine, formerly known as the final resting place of Boba Fett. The bounty hunter was last seen being dragged into the Pit of Carkoon. How did he survive, or are we dealing with a clone of some kind? And where does Fett fit into the story of the Disney Plus show?

It’s not a surprise that The Mandalorian is drawing on existing Star Wars characters to build out its world, especially since Boba Fett, and Ahsoka Tano, are both characters who deserve plenty of screen time. Jango Fett was not in favor with the Mandalore Guild, and one can imagine that old Boba is probably is just as out-of-favor, or perhaps even in hiding. Time will tell what’s become of this famed character.
